Concert fever!

One of my favourite things to do is go to concerts. There's just something about listening to a band or singer live that is so much better than a studio recording. Well, when the artist can actually sing.

My most recent outing was to see Olly Murs at the Capital FM Arena in Nottingham with two of my friends that I grew up with. Our seats were incredible! We knew that we had floor seats and were pretty close but we didn't know how close until we got there!

Let's be honest, if there's more than 1 support act at a concert, the first one is usually just some form of entertainment whilst the arena is filling up. This one was a small, peppy girl called Titch who definitely fit her stage name. She was a decent singer, but sang mostly original songs which I found a little risky for an unknown artist. Granted, some were catchy but they weren't exactly number one hits. She also did a keyboard cover of Taylor Swift's 'I Knew You Were Trouble which is actually one of my favourite songs at the moment. Naturally, me and my friends sang along but I couldn't help noticing that she sang some of the words wrong - oops!

Next on stage was the always quirky Loveable Rogues. I saw them perform last summer at a festival in Newark, where I live. I think they're a good band and I liked them on Britain's Got Talent but I can't handle how 'hipster' they are. The beanies, geek glasses and overly baggy t-shirts are just a bit OTT for me. Nevertheless, vocally, they were really good. Their songs are fun and upbeat and they got the crowd hyped up for Mr Murs!

Olly's set started 10 minutes earlier than scheduled (take note, Bieber) and opened with his new single 'Army of Two'. The song itself is great but throw in his cheeky personality and dance moves and you've got yourself a winner! He went on to sing a compilation of old and new material which the crowd loved equally.

I think my favourite thing about Olly Murs is his schoolboy cheekiness paired with his Essex accent - he can get away with anything! When he was on The X Factor in 2009, everyone loved him because he wasn't just a singer, he was an entertainer. I think most artists these days are either all about the vocals, or all about the performance side of a show. Olly, however, does both and I think it takes a real class act to be able to do that. He went from pouring his heart out in ballads and playing the piano, to dancing around the stage to Beyoncé's 'Crazy in Love'!

Overall, I really enjoyed the concert. Olly's vocals were incredible live and his personality really shone through in his performances. I'm trying to think of something bad about the concert but I honestly can't think of any. I had great seats, great company and there was great entertainment - I can't complain!
