My
last post was about my magazines from university being nominated for an award. Well, this post is well overdue as the event was three weeks ago but I'm happy to say we won!

Frankie says 'I do' was the overall winner in the Entertainment category at the Student Midlands Media Awards in April and I couldn't be happier! If you read my previous post then you know that our other magazine
On Location was up in the same category and amazingly that received highly commended! We were over the moon!

It was a pretty successful night as the University of Lincoln won about a quarter of the awards up for grabs which is amazing for LSJ! Also, if I'm not mistaken, all the finalists from Lincoln either won or was highly commended apart from one, which is not too shabby for a relatively small journalism school. Couldn't be more proud of myself and my group as we worked incredibly hard on the magazines and it's really paid off. It's just a shame we can't make these magazines our full-time job!
Overall, it was a lovely evening out. Everyone there was supportive of each other and we cheered and clapped for every mention of our university. We took lots of photographs and chatted with the other finalists from our uni and a couple of the lecturers that came to support us.

Not to put a downer on our success (and that of others), but it was a shame that in an
article the uni wrote about it, we had little mention and they even missed out two of our group members which is unfair, they deserve just as much credit as we do! Never mind, print is used to taking a backseat to broadcast now...
Love, Lauren
